You should have received a form from the casino to claim the winnings. If they didn’t… As a rules in most places, any gambling winnings over $1199 are taxable and you must claim/file them.

A copy of the form they gave you (which has your social security number on it) goes to the IRS. They are expecting you to report that so you better. If you lost during the year you can deduct the losses up to the amount you won. So if you won $2000 on a slot and lost $3000 playing blackjack you can bring your winnings down to zero (not below), but you still have to file.
A better question is - if you have no work or any source of income - what are you doing playing slots??!!!
